The IOBC-NRS sponsors two graduate student awards — The Robert O’Neil Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Student in Biological Control, and a Master’s-level award — to be awarded to students whose contributions are likely to shape the future of biological control. The recipients will be recognized at the IOBC-NRS meeting and mixer held at the 2024 ESA Annual Meeting, to be held in-person. Winners will receive cash awards ($500 for Ph.D., $500 for Master’s). The Ph.D. winner is expected to give a presentation summarizing her/his research at the IOBC meeting to be held at the 2024 ESA Annual Meeting.
Eligibility: All students currently enrolled in a graduate program in Bermuda, Canada, or the U.S., or will have earned their degree within one year of the annual ESA meeting, and are members of the IOBC by the application deadline, are eligible.
Nomination packets must include (1) a letter that details the significance of the student’s research and its relevance to biological control; (2) a CV that includes contact information; and (3) two letters of recommendation. All materials should be sent electronically as a single PDF file to IOBC NRS Past-President, Mark Hoddle, mark.hoddle@ucr.edu by 15 July 2024.
